Vintage Keys Studio, Lockerley, Hampshire, UK. Online and Live Recording Services.

Vintage Keys is a Music Production Company and Recording Studio, owned and operated by multi-skilled Musician, Composer, Sound Engineer and YouTuber Steve Christie (BA Mus). Steve was trained at Air Studios in London in the mid 1990s, learning the trade from the likes of Sir George Martin, Giles Martin and Tony Visconti, and working for artists including Elton John, Hans Zimmer and Mark Knopfler. He has over 30 years’ experience in the music industry as a Producer, Sound Engineer, Session Musician and Music Arranger.

Inspired by Joe Meek, Steve has modified and built much of the studio equipment used in the studio, including a 1950s RCA Orthophonic Preamp (used as a Mic channel and EQ), a custom-built stereo spring reverb, a ‘metallique’ gong speaker, a replica of an Altec 436B and EMI RS 124 Compressor with added functionality, which are all used daily in the studio.

Vintage Keys Studio houses a large collection of fully working historic electronic and acoustic keyboard instruments dating as far back as 1911, such as our beautiful Steinway ‘A’ Grand Piano, ex-Apple Studios Hammond M102 Organ (as seen and heard in Peter Jackson’s 2021 “The Beatles Get Back” movie, filmed in 1969), ex-Dave Gilmour/Pink Floyd Leslie 910 cabinet, and a multitude of vintage recording equipment. See our instrument and equipment pages for a complete list of our treasures - all available for you to use!

With our team of on-call session musicians, in-house engineer and producers, we are able to cater for bands, small ensembles, singer/songwriters, voiceovers, film soundtracks and also provide an on-location ‘mobile studio’ recording service. See our services for more information.
